How to Use Adobe Premier Pro

Adobe first released Premiere Pro in 1991. The timeline-based editing platform has since become known as a professional editing software. As with most professional software, however, the learning curve is steep and can be intimidating for first-time users. You can conquer the learning curve by following just a few simple steps. In no time, you'll be editing your own movies like a seasoned pro.
Steps:
    • 1
Study the Premiere Pro interface. Become familiar with the basic layout of Premiere. The basic layout contains the Project panel to the left (where movie and audio clips are stored for use in your project), the Monitor panel on the right (where you view your video clips and resulting edits made), the Info panel (which displays information about a selected object), the Tools panel (which displays several tools that can be used for editing video) and the Timeline (where all your edits take place).
    • 2
Import video clips into Premiere Pro. This can be done by selecting "File," "Import." Specify which clips you'd like to import for editing.
    • 3
Drag your movie clips from the Project panel to the Timeline. The order you place your clips in determines the order in which your clips will be seen by the viewer. You can view your edits in the Monitor panel by pressing the spacebar.
    • 4
Click on the Razor tool in the Tools panel and make a cut on one of your video clips. This will separate your video clip into two parts based around where you made your cut. The Razor tool enables you to cut out unwanted footage. Use the Selection tool to select the unwanted portion of your video clip and press "Delete."

Study tutorials for Premiere Pro. The internet contains a vast amount of tutorials for Premiere Pro catered toward beginners (see Resources). Video sites like YouTube also provide visual tutorials from other Premiere Pro users. You can also join a message board dedicated to Premiere Pro help, where other users will help guide you on how to use the software.
